Izu is a large peninsula located rather close to Tokyo - and is one of my favourite destination from Tokyo... Especially when Hassen and Yuki were living in Japan, we very often enjoyed onsen there.

Have also a look at the southern part and the western part of Izu!

The first day, we visited some onsen located in the center of the peninsula, quite close to Yuki & Hassen's former home in Mishima. Some other onsen, in the same area, can be found on the page of the western part of Izu. Yumotokan is a small but nice onsen, located next to a river, and which has been seen on Japanese TV for some advertisings. We were only the three of us in this bath (Seiko being at work that Saturday)...

The following morning, we went in the same area for some walking around waterfalls. Those pictures were taken in Yugashima.

In this small but nice town, we finally went to the Yumotokan ryokan. This ryokan is quite famous in Japan - it is a very old one, but has really attractive baths! You can see here the female bath, which is hanging over a river. And Hassen & Yuki is the male's one, which is reached through a cave! They also have an "o-cha" bath, made with green tea, but it was not ready when we visited the ryokan.

Shuzenji - onsen town

Shuzenji is a famous onsen town. Look at this rotemburo, located in the middle of the village close to the river. We saw people bathing there, but there are almost no walls to protect their privacy!
