3rd trip (25 September 2004)

We stopped in Nikko-Yumoto on our was to Okukinu. The place was as calm as usual, and we enjoyed the sightseeing. Indeed, there is a beautiful waterfall there (Ryusu Falls), much better than the famous Keggon Falls in nearby Shuzenji lake. And of course, the famous place where sulfurous hot springs are bubbling...

2nd trip in Automn 2003 (with Vera, Tony, Joanna, Seiko)

Of course, this trip started with the visit of the most famous shrine, namely Tosho-gu. Since koyo (falling leaf season) was almost finished, it was not too crowded, although a lot of persons still were visiting this spot!

We then went to the Chuzenji-ko lake, which is located higher in the mountains. Over there, a famous 97-meters waterfall is found. Although the view over the lake was nice, I found the place of little interest.

On the other hand, Yumoto Onsen was really attractive. A beautiful small village - also close to a small lake - with spa coming directly from the soil. This spectacle of water boiling around a small pond and leaving trace of native sulfur was great.
