Walindi
Introduction
Located on the island of New Britain, Walindi can be reached from Port Moresby first by plane to Hoskin, and then by car (1 hour). The hotel is surrounded by tropical rainforest and opens on the Kimbe Bay, known for its diving sites. Although this place is the starting point for Peter Hughes' cruises, surrounding diving sites, which can be reached in less than an hour, are especially attractive. Walindi is therefore considered as a grade one destination for scuba divers.

Walindi Plantation Resort (hotel and diving center)email : resort@walindifebrina.cominternet : www.walindi.comrating : 4 / 4 starscomments :The hotel offers 12 spacious bungalows, without windows but with curtains. All of them have small kitchen and a large balcony-terrace with wooden chairs. On those grounds, a restaurant, a swimming pool, a small shop and a bar are also found. The hotel takes care of guest's laundry - something really appreciated. The whole management is efficient, and a rather cool atmosphere is the general rule.
The diving boats leave at 8 am, with 8 to 10 divers aboard. The lunch is served either on the boat, or on a small island's beach; drinks and snacks are available between dives. Some boats only make two dives and therefore are back at the hotel for lunch. The staff on the boat are helpful and do their best to please the customers.
As lots of photographers dive in those waters, there are often interesting slide shows organized at the hotel.
Diving Sites

With a depth of 15-20 meters, this location is ideal for night dives. Isolated reef of about 200 square meters. It is believed that these reefs were formed on old underwater volcanoes. We also dived on this site during our cruise on the Star Dancer, but we were unlucky and did not see any sharks. This time, however, 5 sharks came and swam around us! Corals are also really great. -

During our journey to this dive site (about 45 minutes), we were accompanied by grey dolphins. On this reef, at a depth of 24 meters, lots of soft corals created a multicolor scenery. A shark, turtles and barracudas were observed. -

Terrific site (40 minutes), with an amazing variety of species. At 10-20 meters, a beautiful scenery can be observed. Lots of corals, soft and hard, of all sizes, and an attractive micro-fauna: nudibranchs, small reef fish, shrimps, congers... The sandy bottom around is also nice to explore. -

35 minutes by boat from the hotel. A large shark – the first we saw during our trip! On the bottom, at 25-30 meters, nudibranchs can be seen – if one takes the time to look for them!
